We aim to create an architecture of local adaptation; to climate,
environment and culture.

Our approach is to attempt to avoid falling into preconceived solutions to design problems through a process of detailed analysis of site and brief prior to any design phase, and have experience in many sectors and at all scales - from master planning to product design. Working with an extensive range of consultants, teaching, and collaborations with architects, craftsmen and artists, all enrich the outlook of the studio.

The competition marked the celebration of the hand over of Hong Kong to China. The idea for our monument worked on three different levels, each of which represents the concept on a different scale. On the top level, the Hong Kong Space View Monument forms a giant billboard on the surface of the earth, visible only from space (the image would be picked up by a satellite). On ground level, the physical monument is composed by a myriad of motorized solar reflectors which the citizens of Hong Kong can install on their windowsills or rooftops, thus creating a network of thousands of solar dishes simply by using the internet connections in their homes. Instead of the usual ‘monolithic’ approach to the concept of the monument, the Hong Kong Solar Dish Monument was designed to be highly participatory and interactive. On a third level, a number of solar dishes focus light on a single point in the sky, creating a virtual star above Hong Kong to form the The Hong Kong Virtual Star Monument.
